Fly (they/them) is a writer, director, dramaturg, and community activist.
Fly’s play FROZEN FLUID was a semi-finalist for the O’Neill and Bay Area Playwrights Festival, as well as a finalist for new play initiatives at Kitchen Dog Theater and Unicorn Theatre. Fly’s work continues to be supported by their mentor, Lauren Gunderson, who provided the initial commission for HOT MONEY, Fly’s current project in development. Additional support for the development of HOT MONEY has been provided by the Network of Ensemble Theatres, Great Plains Theatre Commons, and K+R Strategies in Omaha.
Fly is also currently working on a short commission, THE FUTURE OF FIRE, for Butterfly Effect Theatre of Colorado (formerly Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company), and a new musical about the global impacts of agriculture that they hope to workshop in 2022. They have also taught and developed courses for The University of Arizona, The University of Nebraska, The University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, and Doane University.
Fly is a member of Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA),
as well as a member of The Dramatists Guild. They have an MFA in Generative Dramaturgy from the University of Arizona.
They are currently based in Omaha, Nebraska, where they are a resident playwright with The Commoners at Great Plains Theatre Commons.
